Terms of Service

Word Defense · Effective August 17, 2026

These terms cover your use of Word Defense, developed by Matthew Morgado. By playing, you agree to them. They're written to be readable - the spirit is simple: play fair, be decent to other players, and understand this is a small independent game provided as-is.

Your account

The game creates an anonymous account automatically. You're responsible for the device it lives on; optionally link a Unity Player Account ("Back Up Progress") to restore it on new devices. Accounts are for personal, non-commercial play.

Fair play

Don't cheat, exploit bugs for advantage, automate play, manipulate ratings (including deliberately losing or colluding), harass other players through your display name, or interfere with the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break this - including resetting ratings or removing ill-gotten rewards.

Virtual items

Gold, experience, banners, and other in-game items are licensed to you for use in the game. They have no monetary value, aren't redeemable for money, and may be adjusted as part of game balancing. They can't be transferred or sold.

Your content

Display names must not be offensive, impersonate others, or contain personal information. We may reset names that break this rule.

Availability and changes

Word Defense is under active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance or updates. We may discontinue the game entirely; where practical we'll give notice.

Disclaimer and liability

The game is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the game. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (which, for a free game, may be nothing).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of the developer's residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
